Keep your healthy habits all year long.

Keep your healthy habits all year long.

With the new year now officially in full swing, it’s time to check in and see how those resolutions you made to yourself are holding up? Are you crushing them? Do you need to get back on track? I hope your answer was you are crushing your resolutions, but just in case anyone is already doubting themselves I wanted to share some tips and tricks on how to keep your healthy habits going all year long!

Choose wisely and plan.

If you haven’t done so yet take a second to evaluate your resolutions and goals for this year. Do they make sense are they attainable?  If so, then you are on the right track. It is important to remember that goals can be adjusted and changed overtime. While you are evaluating take a look at the plan you set in place to achieve your results. Has this plan been working? If not, adjust it. We are only a little over two weeks in, so everyone has plenty of time to continue to work out the kinks and get back on track!

Build new habits into your schedule.

In order to make changes you must change habits. Changing a habit doesn’t happen overnight and takes time but once you have established the new behavior, you’ll be good to go. The easiest way to change a habit it to make sure you schedule it in your life. For example, say your goal, like many was to be more active, be sure to schedule it in your calendar. Tell your family or friends you have plans for that block of time. Or better yet get them on board with you.

Get Support.

You don’t have to make changes on your own. Be sure to enlist your family and friends. If you find that they are not supportive then turn to a support group or possibly a networking group. For example, maybe your goal was to start running but no one in your life can run, then be sure to join your local run club. Having people around you who will encourage and support your goal will make it easier than you ever imaged.

Goals and rewards.

Be sure you are setting continuous goals throughout your year long journey; this includes both large and small goals. As you start to accomplish the small goals the big ones won’t seem as hard to obtain.  Be sure you reward yourself throughout the process you are doing great and should recognize your success.

Check-in and track.

This may be one of the most important ways to stay on track…you must check in with yourself and be honest with yourself. This is the only way you will be able to stay on track; you must hold yourself accountable when you fail and when you succeed. Be sure you track your progress throughout the year seeing the changes will keep you determined to reach your end goal.

No matter what your goal is, FITTEAM is here to help you along the way. We look forward to seeing your 2020 resolutions come to fruition.
